What Adventure Looks Like

Well-facilitated adventure experiences have a unique way of naturally opening people’s hearts and minds to new ways of thinking and processing life’s challenges. That growth then opens the door for them to step beyond their normal comfort zones and experience expanded opportunities as they apply those new thinking processes to their daily lives. Adventure is a powerful tool that can speak deeply to the heart especially as we parallel our experiences with the life of Christ and see things through the lens of Jesus! But beyond all of the other dynamics of adventure experiences lies the real, bedrock-level reality of its spiritual impact. If our lives are nothing else, they are living story lines of risk and reward, joy and pain, good and evil, glorious victory and agonizing defeat. Our small stories are, though we often forget the fact, all part of the truly epic story of God’s dealings with man. From the days of creation, God has been telling a story – one He has invited us to participate in through an intimate, living relationship with His Son, Jesus Christ. It’s an adventure and a journey that has its roots in eternity and its future in Glory. It’s a day-by-day process of participating with God and walking on the Path of God, in His work of transforming us into the image of Christ – for that is His ultimate goal. (Romans 8:29). This is the essence of living on Adventure!

The Redeemed Adventure Project draws from the Spiritual Parallels and Stories of Scripture - of the Journey and adventures that we are all making as Christians. Adventure experiences, combined with the discovery of who we are in Christ better serve to clarify our purpose in life to live on mission, to be authentic, and better understand what it means to follow Christ in life’s Journey. God speaks in powerful ways through everyday living with Him and in adventure experiences, simply because they so perfectly mirror the Path of Christ and the plans He has for us.

Adventure is not to be Misunderstood!

Adventure is not to be misunderstood as a new doctrine that Christianity has coined for the purpose of becoming more attractive to its constituents. However, we see a very clear biblical parallel that God has hardwired us for living a life of adventure that stretches us, causes personal growth, and then moves us to impact the world around us. Our mission is to inspire and empower people through adventure, with connection, and community through experiences that help them to become everything that God has intended them to be and at the same time having a powerful impact on those around them. This is The Redeemed Adventure Project!

Corrie Ten Boom said, "Faith is the fantastic adventure in trusting him." We hope to cultivate a culture adventure on the Path of God that means following Him in places that we wouldn't have expected!

The Path of God is an Adventure of Faith!

A Life of Christianity is activated by faith on a path with God and on an Adventure! By faith we understand that God created the universe out of nothing (Hebrews 11:3). Through Jesus we have gained access to the grace by faith (Romans 5:2). And, the life we now live, we live by faith in the Son of God (Galatians 2:20). We have often thought about how we as Christians should approach all that is going on in the world and how we can align ourselves to God’s will. The more we think about it, We're convinced that whatever God leads us to do, it will stretch our faith and also include an epic adventure.

Abraham's Story was an Epic Adventure!

God rarely leads us to things that make “sense” to our minds and too many of us avoid the risk of things that don't sense. We have made what seems logical and excuse to avoid life's adventures. It did not make sense for Abram to uproot his life to do a restart in a brand new land. There was no guarantee that he would find land with water on it and welcoming neighbors. He only had a promise from a God that nobody around him knew yet, and he still set out on this adventure. This is not to mention the belief that he was to have a son in his old age. Often, living a life by faith on adventure will encourage other people to think you are crazy. But, it was Abraham’s faith that earned him righteousness. God spoke, and he believed. And now, we too live by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). We have encountered  hundreds of stories of folks who have literally lost everything only to see God redeem those setbacks a hundredfold. It has all been part of the Adventure!

Faith will Challenge your Doubts!

Faith is letting go and trusting that God will catch you. All of your safety measures will be removed. There will be no more backup plans. A life of faith along with the adventure of it will push you to the point of questioning all that you know and believe. Will God always provide? Will He protect me from harm? How can a good God allow this to happen? Is God’s plan for my life good? Will He come through this time? Why is this happening when I laid so much down for Him?

When you have an adventure of faith, the only assurance you have is the goodness of God. The circumstances you face are to be brought before God for His interpretation. Your expectations of how life should be need to be reevaluated with every turn.

An Adventure of Faith will have risks!

I have heard it said that faith goes hand in hand with RISK. Faith definitely takes takes us out of comfort zone to teach us to trust God. Remember! God loves to do what only He can do, and He is searching for people who will believe Him for it (2 Chronicles 16:9 & Luke 18:8). As followers of Christ, our adventures and lives should be positioned for God to intervene.
So, what will this look like for you? That really is up to your relationship with God. Are you on His Path? What is He telling you? What is He gravitating your heart towards? There is so much going on today, and many of you are eager for God to intervene. We believe that you are the one's that He has called to live out His power and glory so why wait?

Tackling Issues in your Home Town.

It is interesting to me that when Jesus was in His hometown, the Bible claims He could not do any miracles there because of their lack of faith (Matthew 13:58). Could this be true in the community you are in? How can you increase the faith of those around you?
Here we come to the final point of why it is so important to redeem and rediscover our faith and adventure! Here is where we ask ourselves if we are living on the missional path of God. If want to see a revival to come to our area, we will need to increase the levels of our faith and get on the adventures of risk that will take us into new territory with Him. This in simplicity is living out Authentic Faith with intentionality. Most importantly! We need to take others with us especially those around us and those who don't know Him. If others are to grow in their faith, they will need to have someone lead the way. That Someone is you!  Therefore, if we want to see God invade our communities and/or nations, we need to live our lives embodied by faith, Faith that takes risk and goes on adventure!

What will your Adventure of Faith look like?

This means we will make decisions that without God it would make no sense. It could be giving up a good job, moving your family to an uncomfortable place, gifting something valuable to someone else, or being willing to have hard conversations. You may feel lead to pray for the impossible or forgive someone who has hurt you greatly.
Some of the decisions will be done privately where only your spouse and kids will know about. Others will stretch you to tell others before God has even come through. The only pattern to this lifestyle is following the Spirit’s leading. You may get it wrong at times, but our trust is in God’s protection, provision, and leading… not in our ability to get it right.
Let's Redeem this kind of Adventure into our lives and go reach our world for Christ. Making it known that we serve a God that loves us and wants to be involved in our lives.
